The Signature Room at the 95th- Charity of the Month

Connections for Abused Women and their Children is delighted to have been chosen as the charity that will benefit during the month of May in the Signature Room Charity of the month program. When you order from the Signature Room Chef’s Selection Menu during May, the Signature Room at the 95th will donate ten percent of the proceeds to CAWC.

The Red Canary- Junior Board Event

On Saturday May 12, CAWC’s Junior Board held its Annual Benefit Brunch at The Red Canary at 695 N. Milwaukee to raise funds to support CAWC’s services.  Approximately 130 individuals enjoyed a buffet brunch of Eggs Benedict, Fried Chicken, Biscuits and Gravy, fresh fruit and French Toast along with bottomless Mimosas and Bloody Marys.  The event raised over $7,000 in event registrations ($50 per ticket), donations, and raffle tickets.  Raffle prizes included a one-night stay at any continental Hyatt Hotel, an American Girl Doll, an In home Wine Tasting Party,  gift certificates to cooking classes, exercise equipment, restaurant coupons, bottles of wine and much more.  The event was chaired by Sarah Krauszer and Dipak Patel, members of CAWC’s Junior Board.  The Junior Board’s role is to help raise both awareness of the crime of domestic violence as well as needed financial resources to support CAWC programs.  Membership on the Junior Board is open to any young professional in the Chicago area who supports CAWC’s mission to end domestic violence and who would like to become involved.  For more information, please contact CAWCjrboard@gmail.com.

Sounds of Silence Gala 2012

The event held on Saturday, March 10 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, Crystal Ballroom, brought together 260 guests to give recognition to the too often silent crime of domestic violence and raised more than $190,000 that will directly support CAWC’s four programs. CAWC’s also celebrated its 35th anniversay of assisting and supporting victims of domestic violence. Guests enjoyed a great silent and live auction along with a nice dinner and dancing. Every year, CAWC helps thousands of victims to rebuild their lives and restore their hopes for violence-free futures. CAWC would like to thank the following lead sponsors for their support:  Presenting Sponsor – Discovery Clothing; Gold Sponsors – Margaret Jones and Mike Ferro, Adams Street Partners, Chicago Tribune, Sidley Austin LLP, Allstate and Northwestern Plastics Associates. CAWC’s gave its 2012 Champion Award to Adams Street Partners for its ongoing support.
